Warrenton High School, with a highly trained professional staff, in cooperation with parents and outside institutions/agencies, will provide a learning environment for all students to acquire the skills necessary to meet the standards on the OAKS Assessments and achieve a high school diploma or a suitable alternative, on their way to becoming lifelong learners and responsible citizens.

To Get Homework Assignments
To get student homework assignments, click on the "Teacher Pages" tab at the right under HIGH SCHOOL LINKS. Click on the name of a teacher and that teacher's page will be opened. Homework should be available there.
Four School Days Reinstated
Thanks to the passage of Measures 66 and 67, four of the eight school days that had been preliminarily cut from the 2009-10 school year have been reinstated. School will be in session on Friday, February 12th; Friday, March 5th; Monday, April 26th; andFriday, May 26th, days that had been previously designated as possible non-school days to deal with budget shortfalls.
WHS Athletes Named All-League
Several Warrenton High School students were named to the 2009 Lewis & Clark All-League football teams recently. Senior Josh Wheatley was selected for the first team offense as a running back and the first team defense as a linebacker. Wheatley also received honorable mention all-state as a linebacker. Junior Billy Kerr represents WHS as an offensive lineman and sophomore Nate Ferrell was picked as a wide receiver. Junior quarterback Tom McFadden was selected for the second team.
Junior Brooklyn Campbell was selected for the first team in volleyball. Junior Payton Hummell was named second team and senior Chelsea Smotherman received honorable mention.

Team Wetlands on Patrol
WHS students Jacob Bentley, Reese Johnson, Donavon Campbell, and Aaron Jannusch have been spending a great deal of their time during 5th period and outside of school making a new wetlands that looks just like the old one. In order to build the new softball field at the high school, some wetlands had to be filled and some new wetlands had to be created. Part of this process involves moving a large number of plants from one location to the other. Enter - Team Wetlands. Their Mission - move over 2,000 plants.

Warren to National Wrestling Hall of Fame
Longtime Warrenton High School wrestling coach, Dennis Warren, has been selected to receive the "Lifetime Service to Wrestling" Award by the National Wrestling Hall of Fame Board of Directors. The notification letter states, "This award acknowledges that your life has been significant and you are leaving behind a benchmark and legacy that others surely will follow. You will have a special place in the History of Wrestling and that place is in the National Wrestling Hall of Fame in Stillwater, Oklahoma".
Cold and Flu Season
The cold and flu season is upon us and many are concerned about the H1N1 influenza, also known as the Swine Flu. A reminder from the Warrenton-Hammond School District Nurse, Christine Gonzalez as well as State of Oregon information about the virus can be found by clicking the link below.
Carey and Pottschmidt are Merit Scholars
Two Warrenton High School seniors have been honored for their scores on the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT). Over one and a half million students took the test in 2008 and the students with the top scores are considered for National Merit Scholarships. Acacia Pottschmidt was notified that she was in the top 34,00 scores (top 3%) and she has received a Letter of Commendation for her accomplishment. James Carey is one of 16,000 (top 1%) Semifinalists and is still in the running to be a national winner. Finalists will be named in February and winners will be announced in March. Merit Scholarship winners will receive either a Corporate-sponsored scholarship, a College-sponsored scholarship, or a $2,500 National Merit Scholarship. Congratulations to Acacia and James for their academic achievements that rank them high among the nation's best and brightest.
Forney Runs Portland Marathon
Warrenton High School teacher, Jenny Forney ran in the 2009 edition of the Portland Marathon on Sunday, October 4th. Forney, a 1998 graduate of WHS, covered the 26.2 mile course in 4:40.42. Tired, but proud of the fact that she "ran the whole thing", she is not quite ready to commit to doing it again anytime soon. She now joins an elite group of people who can say, "I ran a marathon". Congratulations Ms Forney!
