P.E.O.P.L.E.

P.E.O.P.L.E. stands for People Energizing Oregon Promoting Literacy & Education.  It is our mission to make kids, great citizens.  One of goals is to register all Warrenton High School seniors to vote when they turn 18.  At this time, we also inform them of a full tuition, two-year scholarships at Clatsop Community College that is awarded by P.E.O.P.L.E.  Several full tuition scholarships will be awarded at the High School Spring Awards Assembly.

 Every year the Warrenton High School Staff selects students for the scholarship based on their citizenship, volunteer work, and a short essay.  The scholarship enables students to obtain their two-year Associates of Arts degree.  In return, students must perform weekly community service for the Warrenton School District with a designated mentor.  In addition, the student has to write a letter after every term apprising donors of their academic performance.

100% of your donation goes to the kids.  A private party pays all administrative costs and volunteers contribute their time for administrative tasks.  Sponsors names are listed on a donor board at the High School, and on all of the 4,000 flyers that are mailed out within the community.  In the last four years, nine full scholarships worth over $60,000 have been awarded. 

Send a Warrenton High School student to college for less than $0.50 a day.  Join our largest group of donors, the Skipanon Donors, by contributing a minimum of $182 a year (equivalent to $0.50 a day).  Your donation is 100% tax deductible and, once again,  100% of your contribution goes to the students, as all administrative costs are paid privately.  You may donate in memory of a friend or relative and donations vary from $20 to $1,000.

• Skipanon Donors:    $182 - $499
• Cullaby Donors:       $91 - $181
• Coffenbury Donors:  All Donations not exceeding $90

Application Process Requirements:

1. Preference will be given to students with 2.75 or higher cumulative GPA>
2. Preference will be given to students who have attended Warrenton High School for four years.
3. Written Essay titled, "Why I Should Receive the P.E.O.P.L.E. Scholarship."  The essay must be 1-2 pages, handwritten, and legible.

Academic Requirements for Maintaining the P.E.O.P.L.E. Scholarship at Clatsop Community College

1. Maintain a 2.75 cumulative GPA.
2. Complete Community Service every week.
3. Stay on academic track in order to graduate with an AA Degree in two years.
4. Students will be mentored by Warrenton High School Teachers.
5. Scholarship recipients will keep Sponsors apprised of their academic progress earh term.
