Warren to National Wrestling Hall of Fame
Longtime Warrenton High School wrestling coach, Dennis Warren, has been selected to receive the "Lifetime Service to Wrestling" Award by the National Wrestling Hall of Fame Board of Directors. The notification letter states, "This award acknowledges that your life has been significant and you are leaving behind a benchmark and legacy that others surely will follow. You will have a special place in the History of Wrestling and that place is in the National Wrestling Hall of Fame in Stillwater, Oklahoma".
Dennis was the head wrestling coach at Warrenton High School for 26 years. During his tenue at WHS, his teams won five District titles and finished in the top ten at the State Tournament seventeen times. He coached fifty-nine district champions and sixteen individual state champions. Dennis retired from teaching and coaching in 2004 but continues to serve the Warrenton community as a member of the Governing Board and also as the founder and director of the P.E.O.P.L.E. scholarship.
The National Wrestling Hall of Fame and the State Chapter of Oregon will honor the Class of 2010 during the Hall of Fame Celebration on May 1, 2010 in Wilsonville.
